History

In 1994, as I spent time talking and listening to God, He impressed upon me His desire for me to create jewelry with Scripture, in the original language on one side of the piece and in English on the other side. These pieces of jewelry would be used as "ministry tools".....sort of "bait" for unbelievers and encouragement for other believers, all who are drawn into the piece and curious about what it says and why. Since I wasn't a highly skilled jeweler at the time, you can imagine what an overwhelming task lay before me.

I was encouraged because I know some things about God:

  •  He uses ordinary people to do extraordinary things.

  • He would guide me and always be with me and show me what to do.

  • I knew He would build good character qualities into me as we went along.

  • He would complete the task, my part was to be obedient to Him and stay focused on Him and the task He'd given me.

  • The ultimate goal is to bring glory to Him.

The concept of Scripture on silver combined easily with my lifelong love of archaeology in the middle East. The Silver Scroll TM name comes from the discovery of a tiny silver scroll from ancient times with writing on it in Hebrew. It was rolled up and worn around the neck on a cord. The seals were usually carved stone and were used to stamp soft clay sort of like a signature. They were often worn around the neck on a cord or sometimes were on the "face" of a ring. The scrolls were made of parchment, sheep leather, and were rolled up.
